Our History
1973 - 1976
After graduating from Kutztown University with an education degree, the founder, Gary Grimes, incorporated GEG LTD - dba Main Line Pool Service. It was during this time that he began servicing residential pools in the Main Line Area. This service would include opening, closing, equipment maintenance, cleaning, etc.
1977
Mr. Grimes was the patent holder on the GEG Pool Lift, which is the first air operated handicap aquatic chair lift.
1978 - 1980
Over the next three years, Mr. Grimes became an authorized distributor of Bromine from a manufacturer called Hydrotech Chemical Distributor for the local area. It was during this time that he incorporated the "dba Main Line Pool Service" portion of his business to "Main Line Distributors, Inc". This allowed Mr. Grimes to add Chemical & Equipment Distribution to his already existing residential pool service business.
1984
Mr. Grimes established his first office in Bridgeport, PA which was approximately 1,500 sq. ft.
1985
Due to growth, Main Line Distributors, Inc moved into its 2nd building off Boro Line in King of Prussia, PA. This facility had approximately 10,000 sq. ft.
1985 - 1999
The GEG Ltd portion of his business was changed to Vantage System and Mr. Grimes developed a partnership with BioLab, Inc selling Ozone Bromine Chemical Systems to commercial swimming pool facilities throughout the US. It was during this time that Mr. Grimes installed and monitored the chemical systems for the aquatic facilities at Georgia Tech for the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.
1999
The Boro Line facility grew small very quickly and Main Line Distributors, Inc moved into it's current location at 441 Feheley Drive, King of Prussia, PA. This facility is approximately 20,000 sq. ft.
2001
Main Line Distributors, Inc became the exclusive Mid-Atlantic authorized distributor and installer of Myrtha Pools®. (See Myrtha Pools section for more details)
2001 - 2004
Over the years, Mr. Grimes developed partnerships in the commercial pool industry through his work with BioLab and other pool chemical manufacturers. He took note of the differences between the residential and commercial market and saw an opportunity for further development. In 2004, Main Line Distributors, Inc sold its assets and customer base to its employees and changed the company name to Main Line Commercial Pools, Inc to focus the core business on construction and service of commercial facilities.
Today
Main Line Commercial Pools, Inc has designed, built and serviced more than 200+ commercial aquatic facilities in the Mid-Atlantic region and continue to develop and differentiate MLCP, Inc versus their competition.
